BLACK & WHITE....THE NON COLOR STORY

Right now I'm loving everything black, white and metallic.
These two rooms say it all....a mix of modern and old with calming white walls,
lots of luxe gold accents, weathered aged woods, and of course some grey.
vintage frame + black canvas + white matting = j'adore

also, totally in love with this Kelly Wearstler room, that wall paper is the bomb...and the black color wash art is amazing.... inspiring but not over-whelming mixed with golds, silvers and lots of white.
LOVE that coffee table, right?  marble top + brass base = CRUSH

try some soft shades of charcoal if stark black is too much...
this lovely grey wall with weathered wood panel shutters is gorg and that crystal chandi...
no words necessary!

Thinking of renewing your space?  Try a calming palette of black and white to build on.

LAUNCH PARTY ~ THE SHOP IS OPEN!

I'm happy to share that my new shop is finally open with the first of new collections available.  I've been having a blast designing and making these new pieces and have been pleased that these are different from anything I've previously made.  I've been inspired to create pieces with longevity....something that will be classically as beautiful years from now as they are today so I wanted to use heavy clasps, larger gauge

PROJECT INSPIRATION

Tossing some Bloglovin' out there......
I'm sharing an awesome project from a modern, iconic stylista... Erika Brechtel,
creative director and editor of 'small shop',
an amazing brand design shop and blog {on my 'must read daily' list}!

Her Seasonal Pinboard is the next project on my to-do list for inspiration

check out Erika's gorg Home in California Edition of Adore Home Magazine

Want more instruction on how to make a lovely board of your own?
Check out Erika's D.I.Y. tutorial HERE >
A collection of her favorite things, well edited and laid out in a minimalist way.
I truly love it ....she's inspired me to take mine off the wall and redo it totally....and maybe even create a new one of much larger and appropriate size.  I love her instructions so follow the link above to see how she created hers so that you achieve that same thoughtful appearance.

Happy Friday!  xoxo ande

MY LATEST OBSESSIONS

Sharing some of the things I've been working on ....some are finished....some not
a work in progress.... my latest dream catcher
I'll be going out to the country... out of town to search for some wild willow branches, grapevine, quartz rocks, arrowheads and maybe if i'm lucky some pottery shards to be the stars of my dream-catchers.
Growing up on my Granddads farm by the Chattahoochee River, I used to find these all the time.

TRADITIONAL SOUTHERN TREAT FOR THOSE LAST LAZY SUMMER DAYS

Sharing a traditional southern recipe ...like Grandmother used to make!

Montgomery Pie

Bert Greene, cookbook author and longtime food columnist for The New York Daily News, was traveling home while in the service and happened to stay in a hotel in Montgomery, Ala. and dined in their restaurant. He ordered a piece of pie and upon his return home, he tried to contact the cook to ask for the recipe, but never got a response. He called the hotel manager only to learn that the cook couldn't read or write, and there was no recipe. Mr. Greene returned to Montgomery and stood with the wonderful lady in her kitchen as she made the pie and recorded the recipe so that others could enjoy Montgomery Pie.
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons soft butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 deep dish pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat one egg with the lemon juice and rind, ½ cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1 cup water. Beat until smooth and pour into unbaked pie shell.Beat butter and one egg in a large bowl; add 2/3 cup sugar and baking powder; then alternatively add milk and 1-1/2 cups flour (about 1/3 each time). Beat until smooth then spoon the mixture over the first layer of the pie.Bake 35-40 minutes. Check with toothpick for doneness. Cool on a wire rack. Slice and enjoy. Be sure to spoon the lemon filling left in the pan over the top of the slice before serving.

Enjoy!

Summer Color Inspiration

Its a Rainy Saturday here, but I'm still Beach Weekend Dreaming!

Featured Home ....Jennifer Lopez

Veranda featured the exquisite home of Jennifer Lopez and as expected it is fabulous.
JLo is after-all a Fashion Icon and an awesome entrepreneuress!
Loving the soft shades of grey, blue and taupe mixed with sparkling mosaics, mirrors, and metallics.

"There are all these tones of gray, and we played with that—using a bit more of a gray-taupe here, a bit more of a gray-blue there," says interior designer Michelle Workman. "It's almost like a black-and-white film from the forties."

Some Purchasing Details:
Custom klismos chairs in Calvin Klein Home fabric for Kravet. Tête-à-tête sofa, Michael Berman Limited, in Casamance fabric. Side tables, Global Views. Charles Hollis Jones coffee table. Custom sofa in Manuel Canovas fabric. Pillows inScalamandré stripe. Tufted chair, Hollyhock. Fretwork chair, McGuire. Curtains in Schumachersilk.

She has a great line of clothing and accessories at Kohl's that embodies the style of her home as well.
Its obvious that she believes in her brand ...it comes through as completely chic.

Happy Rainy Saturday Afternoon!
