Inspiration photos.........Love these visual feasts ......so inspiring ...now to get to work!

Pics from our kitchen re-furb...... One step closer to a ck mark on the list! YES!

These are from Moms kitchen... we installed the crown molding and wood trim on the cabinet doors and applied this distressed teal finish on the top cabs... next we're finishing the bottom cabinets in a distressed charcoal gray ...moving then to the backsplash tiling....we're having a hood built for above the stove...and installing a tiled backsplash under that along with some gorgeous corbels under the hood.  Also, sewing new cafe curtains and a valance for these windows...after touching up the trim.
Next project after that is sanding and refinishing the wood floors. Whew!

CULTURE CLUB:

The next semester is about to get cranked up.  Cant wait to get started....mainly so I can be that much closer to done. As it is I have at least three more years before the final bell can DING!  But as I'm going along on this journey of learning I've realized how much I'm enjoying history....not just art history;  although the history of art is fascinating I'm actually enjoying learning about our countries history as well as european history.  The world of art is such a fickle one but I love it so much.  Its so interesting to see how through the ages artist have been compelled to express their experiences with color and texture.  Its so awesome...and so liberating.  I think back to a friend I had sooo many years ago.  He was an awesome guy from Cali...he used to leave me notes all around my apt saying...study well.
Well, in honor of heading back to 'all seriousness' with a crammed fall schedule... here's a link to the mother load of museum exhibits...... and my wish..... please please please let me get to go there someday Lord!

Alice in Wonderland inspired cupcakes.

Apricot Pecan Biscotti......perfect with some coffee in the morning.

Biscotti
makes 3 dozen

8 T. {1 stick} unsalted butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. anise extract
1 tsp. lemon zest
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup pecans {or nut of your choice}
approximatley a cup of dried fruit of your choice
such as dried apricots, figs, dates...
can also use chocolate chips or caramel chips for variety

Heat oven to 350 degrees
Mix butter and sugar on medium with mixer about 2 minutes until creamy.
Add eggs, extracts, and zest and beat on medium until smooth...2 minutes.
Combine remaining ingredients in medium bowl then ad to butter mixture.
Mix on low speed until just incorporated.  Remove dough to clean surface and
divide into quarters.  Form dough into 9 by 1 logs, place on ungreased cookie sheet 2
inches apart, and bake until lightly browned, 25 minutes.
Remove from baking sheet and let cool slightly.  Lower oven temp to 275 degrees.  Using
a serrated knife, slice logs on the diagonal about 1/2 inch thick.  Arrange biscotti on their sides on
baking sheet.  Return to oven and bake until golden, about 20 min on each side.
enjoy
