Dramatic Mantles...the hearth of home

When the days get shorter and that chill is in the air we start to think of building a fire
The Mantle comes into focus again....no longer a forgotten part of the room as in summer.
Lovely convex mirror + vases of flowers = even more drama layered on this rococo style mantle.

Dream in Pinks, Golds and Creamy Whites

I'm obsessed with these lovely shades of cream and white mixed with gold metallics and pinks

And all things animal print have captured my imagination....I see lush pillows
and drapes made from this fabulously luxe print...this coat is Fab and
I'm dreaming of a closet with this much organization!

and need I say....... loving all things GLITTERED!  these are so posh!...I'm seeing them as awesome little ornaments on a white flocked tree with tons of little vintage treasures tied on.
Swoooon..... this is sooo amazing.  Look closely...that faux painted ceiling
is a cloudy dreamy little touch of heaven.  The shimmer and shine of this
beautiful chandi and gold trim is like icing the cake.

LOVE fresh flowers and these are scrumptous!  I'm already imagining
how those lilies will smell once they are open.... sigh.

I love PUPPIES...and these are too adorable for words.  How Sweet!

Lovely Carved Headboard + White Stone Walls + White Lace Linens + Cream Dahlia's = BLISS

Another Blissful Bedroom!  This one really captured my attention...fab fireplace in master-suite...a gloriously blinged out chandi..... tufted headboard and
those gorgeous chairs to relax in.  LOVE!

Peaceful and Serene relaxing area is so appealing.

Art comes in so many forms.... I love to see creations like this whimsical feathered mask.  My hope is that artisans working in all sorts of genres are appreciated in the world for their skill and talent.  If a piece is thoughtfully planned and made, whether its an oil painting, sculpture, mixed media piece, a textile item or a collage....... if you see talent and a little bit of restraint {please no bad installation pieces or performance art...I mean really...whats the old saying.... rude, crude and socially unacceptable....totally believe in that!} and skill brought forth in the execution of the piece ....then I hope it will be celebrated!

Fashion Design .... its Art .... its McQueen!

Alexander McQueen.....
a label whose designs are so profound....so thoroughly finished...there's not one piece that looks like its not complete.  You know how some designs just look like ...hmm  they could have done something more .... there's just something missing... its not fabulous....well you cant say that about McQueen.... the spring collection is so incredible.... so much depth and detail.... every bead so perfectly placed...every ruffle so exquisite.  Its perfection .... setting the bar incredibly high...I love it!

The Spring/Summer 2012 Runway Show....Gllllaaammmmoroussss!
Loving the LACE details
such a blissful shade of pink mixed with gold... confection perfection!
its in the attention to intricate touches that makes this so special...so McQueen
some people might say its too much.... *rolling eyes...yeaaa right.
the numbers speak for themselves.....

I always like to see who is it behind the brand....who exactly is making this so fabulous!! This info is via the McQueen website...its a tribute to the creative force Alexander McQueen himself...as he has sadly passed away.  He accomplished so much and you can see that determined look in his eyes.  I certainly admire his drive to work hard and use his talents.  Bravo!

Alexander McQueen was born in London on March 17th 1969, the youngest of six children. He left school at the age of 16 and was offered an apprenticeship at the traditional Savile Row tailors Anderson and Shephard and then at neighbouring Gieves and Hawkes, both masters in the technical construction of clothing.
From there he moved to the theatrical costumiers Angels and Bermans where he mastered 6 methods of pattern cutting from the melodramatic 16th Century to the razor sharp tailoring which has become a McQueen signature. Aged 20 he was employed by the designer Koji Tatsuno, who also had his roots in British tailoring. A year later McQueen travelled to Milan where he was employed as Romeo Gigli's design assistant. On his return to London, he completed a Masters degree in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martin's. He showed his MA collection in 1992, which was famously bought in its entirety by Isabella Blow.
Alexander McQueen shows are known for their emotional power and raw energy, as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of the collections. Integral to the McQueen culture is the juxtaposition between contrasting elements: fragility and strength, tradition and modernity, fluidity and severity. An openly emotional and even passionate viewpoint is realized with a profound respect and influence for the arts and crafts tradition. Alexander's collections combine an in-depth working knowledge of bespoke British tailoring, the fine workmanship of the French Haute Couture atelier and the impeccable finish of Italian manufacturing.
In less than 10 years McQueen became one of the most respected fashion designers in the world. In October 1996 he was appointed Chief Designer at the French Haute Couture House Givenchy where he worked until March of 2001.
In December 2000, 51% of Alexander McQueen was acquired by the Gucci Group, where he remained Creative Director. Collections include womens ready-to-wear, mens ready-to-wear, accessories, eyewear and fragrance (Kingdom 2003 and MyQueen 2005). Expansion followed and included the opening of flagship stores in New York, London, Milan, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
The following awards have recognized Alexander McQueen's achievement in fashion: British Designer of the year 1996, 1997, 2001, and 2003, International Designer of the Year by The Council of Fashion Designer's of America (CFDA) in 2003, A Most Excellent Commander of The British Empire (CBE) by her Majesty the Queen in 2003, GQ Menswear Designer of the Year in 2007.

Sarah Burton grew up and was educated in Manchester before moving to London to study fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. On the recommendation of a tutor, Burton completed a placement year with Alexander McQueen in 1996, rejoining again upon her graduation the year after.
In 2000, Burton was made Head of Design – Womenwear. On May 2010, Burton was announced as Creative Director of the Alexander McQueen brand and worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years. Since her appointment, Burton has produced two acclaimed collections. Her debut in Spring/Summer 2011 was a showcase of intricate craftsmanship and in Autumn/Winter 2011, Burton continues to focus on handcraft, establishing herself as an accomplished designer with artisan and technical excellence.
Today, Burton supervises the creative direction and development of all collections of the brand which includes women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories as well as the contemporary line, McQ which is also made up of women’s, men’s and accessories collections.

Fall Fairytales

These delightful Pumpkin Carriages found on French Kissed blog are such a fun project for fall.  So much time and detail was taken to create a magical little coach.  Link over to the French Kissed blog to read how she made this.
